The most eastern Kharga Oasis also has a long history with temples and lots of archaeological treasures. At main town Kharga, where is also the governement for all southern oasises, the pretty restored Hibis Temple is mentionable, but also the large early christian cemetery of Bagawat with more then 200 graves and temples. There is also a good regional museum with many show-pieces.

If you have enough time, we recommend a visit of the mini oasis Ain el-Lebekha 20km toward the north, the "kingdom" of Abu Sayed. All around there are relics from roman time: temples, graves, Fort Qasr Lebekha and Umm el-Dabadib and lots of some thousand year old rockpaintings.
